MBO helps Welsh motion company to expand
A Welsh company that specialises in control modules and systems for automotive applications such as steering and fans, has been bought by its management and is planning to add 30 jobs to the 110 it already employs. Swansea-based Electronic Motion Systems (EMS) was originally part of International Rectifier Electronic Motion Systems, which was sold to Vishay in 2007, bought by Gores Equity in 2008, and changed ownership for the fourth time with the new MBO.
EMS, which exports to China, Japan, the US and Europe, has recently won a contract to design and supply 410,000 electronic hydraulic power steering systems to a major car manufacturer. It is setting up a new production line to manufacture these systems, with financial support from Welsh Assembly.
General manager Rolf Dahlmanns (above), who led the MBO, says the business is in better shape than ever. He adds that local ownership of the business has opened up new opportunities and helped to restore confidence in the company.
