Waterproof stainless-steel industrial PC is `first of its type`
The Taiwanese industrial computing specialist AAEON claims to have produced the first waterproof, stainless-steel, embedded industrial PC. It has developed the AEC-6511 IPC for applications that demand waterproof, dustproof and anti-corrosion performance.

The IP67-protected IPC (above) is based on an Intel Atom processor, with up to 2GB of system RAM, a CompactFlash memory card slot, and a bay for 1.5Gb/s hard drive. The computer, which draws 10W, has a Gigabit Ethernet port for fast networking, as well as two USB2.0 ports and two COM ports. Expansion cards can be used for WiFi and other purposes.
The IPC will operate in temperatures from –20 to +55°C, allowing it to be used outdoors.
